Assembly By-Poll: Counting of votes for 10 constituencies to begin today

The counting of votes for the 9th April bypoll of ten Assembly constituencies in eight states will begin this morning. An elaborate arrangements have been made for the counting in these seats. <br/><br/>In Delhi, counting for the by-election of the Rajouri Garden Assembly seat will start from 8 AM. Nearly 46 per cent voters had exercised their franchise during this poll. This election is being seen as a litmus test for the AAP which had won 67 seats in 70 member Delhi Assembly. <br/><br/>The poll also becomes important as it is being held just ahead of Municipal polls this month. <br/><br/>In Madhya Pradesh, the counting of votes for by-elections of Ater and Bandhavgarh Legislative Assembly segments will start from 8 AM this morning. There will be 21 rounds of counting for Ater seat of Bhind district and 19 rounds for Bandhavgarh seat in Umaria district. <br/><br/>There are five candidates in the fray in Bandhavgarh and 21 in Ater. Over 67 per cent polling was recorded in Bandhavgarh while about 59 per cent votes in Ater.<br/><br/>The counting of votes will also be taken up for Bhoranj seat in Himachal Pradesh, Kanthi Dakshin Assembly seat in West Bengal, Dhemaji constituency in Assam, Dholpur Assembly segment in Rajsathan, Nanjangud and Gundlupet Assembly segments in Karnataka and Littiparah Assembly seat in Jharkhand.<br/><br/>The re-polling in 38 polling stations of the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat will take place today. The voting will begin from 7 this morning and conclude at 4 PM. The polling stations fall under Chadoora, Budgam, Beerwah, Khan Sahib and Chrarisharief Assembly constituencies. <br/><br/>The Election Commission took the decision after going through the reports submitted by the Returning Officers and Observers. The polling for the Lok Sabha seat was held on last Sunday. <br/><br/>Chief Electoral Officer Shantmanu said the Election Commission's decision on repolling was taken for those centres where polling was hit by violence. The counting will be held on Saturday.<br/> <br/>
