Taking cognizance of a complaint about a brutal assault on a doctor by the relatives of a COVID patient in Assam, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called for the Action Taken Report from the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police. It has asked for the report within four weeks. Besides an enquiry into the allegations, the report is expected to include preventive and punitive action taken in the matter by the Assam government.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Commission has said that it has also asked the Union Health Ministry to initiate necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the frontline health workers in the country.</span><br />
