The voters of Assam today witnessed war of words between BJP leader Narendra Modi and Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi particularly on women securities in the country. Addressing an election rally in Nagaon , Rahul Gandhi alleged that women are not safe in BJP ruled states. He said that a slew of measures will be taken by the Congress party for women empowerment if voted to power. Mr. Gandhi said that 25 percent jobs in police will be reserved for women. Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s comment, Prime Ministerial candidate of BJP, Narendra Modi in his rallies at Mongoldoi and Nagaon said that the UPA government failed to use a single penny from the Nirbhaya Fund. He termed the UPA government insensitive in this issue. Mr. Modi said that women from the North East states are not safe in the national capital, but the government has failed to take any measures on women safety. Narendra Modi also alleged that one minister of Assam is encouraging rhino poaching in the state. The polling will take place on 24th of this month in Lower Assam for 6 seats. A total of 74 candidates are in fray in this phase.
