In Assam, indefinite curfew continues in Kokrajhar district since yesterday. The Army is holding a flag march in the district. Para-military forces and the police are maintaining a strict vigil on vulnerable areas. No untoward incident has been reported .
The Bodoland Peoples Front also declared indefinite Kokrajhar bandh protesting the arrest of MLA Pradeep Kumar Brahma for his alleged involvement in violence. One person was injured at Uttar Ballamguri in Chirang today in an attack by unidentified miscreants. He has been rushed to the hospital.
Assam government also urged the Railways to ensure security of passengers who are returning home from other states. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi held a meeting with the editors of newspapers yesterday.
The meeting extended gratitude to the Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and other states for taking prompt steps to instil a sense of security and confidence among the people of the North-East.
