Assam violence:Central team now in Dhubri to assess relief measures

The inter-ministerial delegation of Joint Secretaries arrived today in Dhubri to take stock of the relief and rehabilitation measures. The seven member team visited a relief camp in Bilasipara sub-division of the district and met the inmates. The team will also visit Kokrajhar, Chirang and Baksa districts and see the steps being taken for relief and rehabilitation of those affected during the recent violence. The team will hold meetings with state government officials and take stock of the plans being chalked out to implement the 300-crore rupees relief package announced by Prime Minister for violence affected people. Dr Manmohan Singh had announced the package during his visit to Kokrajhar.
` No untoward incident has been reported in the violence marred areas.246 miscreants have been arrested so far for indulging in violence. State Home secretary said that Assam government will ask the Railways to provide arrangement so that people who have returned from Southern states can go back to their place of work or study.
