The situation in violence hit districts of Assam has improved. No untoward incident has been reported since Sunday. Strict vigil is being maintained to maintain law and order situation. But night curfew continues in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Dhubri district as a precautionary measure. So far two lakh 15 thousand people have returned home from the relief camps.
A Central team today visited relief camps at Maspara, Barkanda and Bilasipara in Dhubri district and took stock of the relief, rehabilitation and security measures. They told the inmates of the camps that government will take care of their safety and security after they return home.
On the other hand, state Home secretary said that Assam government will approach Railways to make arrangements so that people who have returned from Southern states can go back to their place of work or study. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi already appealed to all those persons who have already come back from other states to return to their usual place of work or study.
