Assam violence: 36 thousand people return home from relief camps

In Assam, 36 thousand people have returned home from relief camps in violence hit areas during last 24 hours. Talking to newsmen in Guwahati today, Chief Executive Officer of state Disaster Management P K Tiwari said that curfew has been lifted in Sonitpur district. He said that 5 officials from the Health Ministry have visited relief camps today in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts. Mr. Tiwari said that senior officials of the Assam government are monitoring relief and rehabilitation measures. State Home Commissioner Prateek Hajela said that police have registered 76 cases of violence and arson.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the BJP has visited Alipurdwar in West Bengal today. Over 1,300 displaced people from Kokrajhar have taken shelter at Alipurdwar following recent violence.
