The Assam Government has decided to spend four hundred crore rupees during next one year for implementation of rural employment generation schemes. Another hundred crore rupees would be spent for setting up employment-oriented educational institutes. Disclosing this to newsmen in Guwahati, the State Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi said Assam has made substantial progress on different fronts including road connectivity, health and educational infrastructure, employment generation and poverty alleviation during last nine years’ continuous Congress ruling. Mr. Gogoi announced that his government will soon enact a law to protect agricultural land from alienation and conversion besides preserving the sanctity of tribal belts. The Chief Minister also announced to provide housing land to the working journalists of the State on 50 per cent concessional rates of the government land value besides creating a journalist welfare fund.<br/>
