In Assam, a long-term rhino conservation project is on the anvil to protect the rare animal from the clutches of poachers. The project will aim at strengthening wildlife conservation structure in line with the Tiger Foundation in the Tiger Reserves. <br/> <br/>The indication came after the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh called upon the State Government to constitute a Conservation Foundation in each of the protected areas with a view to curb activities of the rhino-horn poachers.<br/>
