The Assam Government has decided to launch a round a clock health helpline to be known as '104' very soon. It will be manned by 100 doctors in a call centre. The idea behind launching the 104 service is to provide people with medical advice and discuss the same at length over telephone, which, on most occasions, is not possile in a hospital. Disclosing this the State Helath Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma froday, said a new batch of 100 doctors would be appointed by January next year besides other staff members for this project. AIR Guwahati correspondent reports that Assam would be the second state in the country to implement this project after Andhra Pradesh. The state would spend ten crore rupees per annum for the project, to be implemented by the Assam Government in collaboration with Health Management Research Institute.<br/>
