In Assam, security forces have launched a massive joint operation in five police station areas along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh boundary in Tinsukia district to rescue the kidnapped tea planter Pranab Goswami.The veteran tea planter was abducted at gun-point by six motor cycle-borne heavily-armed banned ULFA militants from his residence at Brahmajan under Pangeri Police Station in Tinsukia District yesterday evening.Tinsukia district Superintendent of Police Prithvi Singh is supervising the operation launched in cooperation with the Dogra Regiment of the Army and Cobra Battalion.AIR Correspondent reports as many as ten tea planters were kidnapped this year from different parts of Upper Assam for ransom by suspected militants.
