In Assam, two suspected ULFA militants were killed in an encounter with a combined team of police, BSF and CRPF in Kamrup district today. Official sources said in Morigaon, acting on a tip off from the BSF, a joint team of CRPF and Assam Police was patrolling Nawakuchi, under Khetri police station. As three insurgents fired at the security forces at around 3 am, the security personnel retaliated and two ultras were gunned down while the third escaped. A 9-mm pistol, a magazine and six rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain ultras, the sources said.
