Assam State Forest Department takes a novel scheme to prepare database of every rhino

In Assam, the State Forest Department has taken a novel scheme to prepare the database of every rhino found in the State’s national parks for proper management and conservation. Assam has the largest population of one-horned rhinos in the world with the famous Kaziranga National Park recording habitat of more than two thousand of the rare animal. According to official sources, the project to prepare a complete database on each and every rhino will be first implemented at Orang Rajiv Gandhi National Park, the smallest rhino habitat in the State with a population of 65.<br/>
