The Assam government has sought 650 crore rupees from the Centre as interim flood relief. Talking to AIR, Chief Executive Officer of the State Disaster Management Authority P K Tiwari said that details reports on damages caused by flood will be submitted later.<br/><br/>Mr. Tiwari said that situation in Lower Assam has improved as the water level of rivers including the Brahmaputra has receded. However, flood condition at Dhubri town has not improved much.<br/><br/>Relief and rescue measures are being carried out. Nearly 2 lakh people have taken shelter at temporary relief camps. Relief materials like rice, pulses, drinking water, baby foods are being distributed. Medical teams have also been deployed at relief camps.
