Assam security forces arrest four militants and five poachers in two separate incidents

In Assam, security forces have arrested altogether nine militants and poachers in two separate incidents. Assam police arrested five militants of teh Karbi Longri Raikom Asong, KLRA at Hamren in Karbi Anglong district last evening. The SP of Hamren said that they were serving extortion notice to various businessmen in the district. One AK-56 rifle, 22 electronic detonators and a huge amount of ammunition were also recovered from them.

In another incident, police and forest guards arrested five dreaded poachers at Bokakhat in Golaghat district. Official sources said that, acting on specific information, police and forest guards apprehended the poachers when they were trying to enter Agaratali range of the Kaziranga National park. Police also seized rifle, cartridges, silencers, an axe and other equipment..

The arrest of the poachers is considered a major success for the anti-poaching operation being launched by the state government. The Assam government has deployed the Assam Forest Protection Force in Kaziranga.Poachers have killed 15 rhinos in Kaziranga this year.
