In a joint operation, Assam Rifles personnel and police recovered 40,000 detonators from Bawngkawn locality of Aizawl.

The police said that the detonators which were seized yesterday were being smuggled to Myanmar.

Two Myanmarese nationals were arrested in this connection and charged under relevant sections of the Explosives Act.

The detonators, made by Hyderabad-based Explosive Division of the Gulf Oil Export Corporation Ltd, were worth around 8.4 lakh rupees in the local market.
