In Assam, the state police department is going to install solar power plants in 15 districts. Official sources said that the proposed initiative would help police personnel, mostly, posted in interior areas in doing their duties.24 1 K W capacity solar power plants would be set up in 20 police stations and 4 outposts spread across rural areas. It is taken up to revamp the infrastructure in police stations.The project would help popularise the use of solar energy among people in rural areas.Assam government has already taken Solar Photovoltaic programmes in various categories. More than 3 thousand 500 households and 100 villages have utilised solar energy facilities so far across the state.
