Assam police gunned down one ULFA insurgent in Tinsukia and arrested two others in Guwahati during last 24 hours. One hardcore cadre of the anti-talk faction of banned outfit ULFA was killed in a gun battle last night in Tinsukia district. Official sources said that, acting on a tip off, elite Assam Police Rangers cordoned off Tarani Forest Area under Penegeri police station. Huge cache of arms and ammunitions including one AK 81 rifle was recovered. On the other hand, two ULFA cadres were also arrested at Gorchuk Inter State Bus Terminus in Guwahati yesterday. One Chinese grenade was also recovered from them. Both the arrested militants were suspected to be involved in the grenade blast at busy Paltan Bazar area on eight of the last month. One CRPF personnel was killed in the blast while several were injured.
