Over 9 lakh people are affected in 23 districts. 20 people lost their lives so far in the current wave of floods. Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Nalbari, Barpeta are among the worst affected districts. Surging water caused large scale damages to agriculture land and infrastructures.<br />''<br />''Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that instruction has been given to district administrations to provide necessary help at relief camps. He said that the Assam government is monitoring the flood situation round the clock.<br />''<br />''Talking to AIR , Mr. Sonowal  said that NDRF, SDRF teams are extending support in affected areas. He said that  landslides have become another problem and that vulnerable areas are being identified.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah has taken stock of the situation in Brahmaputra river and landslides near Guwahati. Mr Shah spoke to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and senior minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He assured them of all possible help to the state. Mr Shah said the government at centre stands firmly with the people of Assam.</span><br />
