Assam: Nine lakh people hit by flood in Barak valley

<br/>In Assam, at least 9 lakh people have been affected by the flood in Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts of Barak Valley so far. <br/> According to official sources, in the worst hit karimganj district of the valley, at least four lakh seventy thousand people have been hit by the flood. In the neighbouring Cachar district, over 4 lakh ten thousand people have been marooned. More than 40 thousand people have also been affected in Kailakandi district.<br/> In the three districts of the Barak Valley, normal life has been disrupted as hundreds of families have been forced to leave their homes with the rivers Barak, Longai, Kushiara and Katakhal are in spate.<br/> <br/>
