In Assam, the newly-elected Congress Legislators are expected to meet at Guwahati tomorrow to elect CLP leader. Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and AICC’s Assam Congress observer Digvijay Singh are scheduled to arrive in the state today to oversee preparations for government formation. The new government is expected to be sworn in by Thursday. Meanwhile, the last state Cabinet meeting has been called at five in the afternoon at Dispur today. Mr. Gogoi is likely to resign as the Chief Minister to pave the way for election of a new CLP leader at the meeting. Our Correspondent reports that Tarun Gogoi is going to be elected CLP leader unopposed to enable him to continue as the Chief Minister of the state for the third consecutive term.
