Assam, Nagaland to set up Joint Mechanism for coordination on border issues

Assam and Nagaland have agreed to set up a Joint Mechanism for regular coordination on border issues.

Talking to newsmen after attending a meeting of Assam and Nagaland Chief Ministers in Guwahati, Union state minister for Home Kiren Rijiju said that both states agreed to contain the situation at their respective areas.

Rijiju said that 3 more companies will be deployed at the disturbed bordering areas.

Assam Chief Minister appealed all concerned to help in restoring peace.

Nagaland Chief Minister said that the Nagaland government had formed a committee to look into the matter.

He said that CRPF deployed at Assam Nagaland border should be given more powers.
