The five-day-long Monsoon Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly is beginning at Dispur from Monday. According to official sources, as many as 15 bills, including five new, are to be tabled during the Session. An amendment bill relating to increase of salaries for the Ministers, Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Legislators is to be placed in the Assembly. The proposed bill seeks to increase the salary of the Chief Minister up to sixty five thousand rupees from the present sixteen thousand.<br/><br/>The Congress-led State Government will also table a White Paper on various developmental projects being taken up by it during its continuous nine years ruling in Assam. AIR Correspondent reports that the State’s law and order situation, besides initiating talks with militant groups and alleged corruption in Autonomous Hill Councils may dominate the proceedings during the Session. The Combined opposition, led by Asom Gana Parisad and BJP has chalked out strategies to grill the Congress-led Government on the burning issues of the Stateduring the Assembly meets.
