The Assam Government has issued alert notice in 10 districts on the North bank of the river Brahmaputra to avert any possible disturbance in the wake of violence in Kokrajhar and Chirang district. Official sources today said that with recovery of another two bodies, the death toll in violence incidence have mounted to 18.While unidentified miscreants killed 12 people in Kokrajahr district another 6 lost their lives in Chirang district.Ten additional companies of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are being dispatched to maintain law and order in violence hit areas. Night curfew has been in force in both the districts. The Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar said that additional forces of Army, SSB, Para military forces along with Assam Police have been deployed in the 31 sensitive areas of the district.The National Disaster Response Force and Assam Forest Protection Force are also being deployed. Seven civil and 15 police officers have been deputed in Kokrajhar to maintain law and order situation.Forty-two relief camps have been set up where more than 40,000 people are being sheltered in Kokrajahr district. The Assam Government has appealed to the people not to be panicked by rumors being spread by miscreants and urged all to maintain peace and harmony.
