The old Assam House in Shillong ,Meghalaya will be preserved as a heritage buliding. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi yesterday issued directives to the officials of the concerned departments in this regard. Official sources said that Gogoi reviewed the progress of construction of a new Assam Bhawan in Shillong. The new four-storied building will cover an area of 32 thousand square feet and the total cost of the same will be around 5 crore 73 lakh rupees. The construction of the new building started last year and it is likely to be completed by December this year.
