<span style="color: #222222;">The Assam government says a high-level inquiry will be set up to probe the recent violence in the state. Talking to newspersons in Guwahati, Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said 136 cases have been registered in the state and 190 persons arrested for their alleged involvement in the violence during the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act. <br />''<br />''He said the government has taken the cases of violence very seriously and wants to investigate the pattern of violence in some of the cases, including at Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati. </span><br />''<br />''The Minister hoped that the Centre would try to reach out to peaceful protesters, adding that the government has no issue with democratic protests. <br />''<br />''Mr. Sarma also said that a maximum of 5.42 lakh people may get citizenship in Assam through the new Act. He said a section of people are spreading misinformation that crores of people would settle in the state. The Minister said the Indo-Japan summit will be held in Guwahati and its date will be fixed later.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, Deputy General Manager of the SBI in Guwahati, Narayan Chandra Paul said around 80 per cent ATMs are functioning. He said all ATMs will function normally within two to three days. </span>
