Assam Government is to formulate a new placement policy for the students of science and technology after completion of their courses very soon. This was stated by the Chief minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi while flagging off a special train sponsored for a five-day-long science excursion programme at Guwahati on Sunday. The programme, organized by Assam Science, Technology and Environment Council has been participated by 648 students and guides from different institutions of the State. They will visit various science-related centres in Kolkata and Durgapur areas by train during these days. Mr. Gogoi said his Government will initiate a new scheme to offer scholarship for the students studying in science and mathematics streams. Speaking on the occasion, Assam Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma announced to distribute Solar Lights at free-of-cost among three thousand students passing class nine and tenth class with first division marks in the State from the current academic year.
