The Assam government is to engage 2.5 lakh Jal Doot in the State to create awareness on water preservation and related issues. <br />''<br />''Talking to AIR Correspondent Mission Director of Jal Jeevan Mission, Kailash Karthik N informed that 10 students of 9th to 10th standard would be engaged as Jal Doot against each scheme of the Mission. <br />''<br />''He added that the selected students would undergo a two-day workshop on water, sanitation, and health along with community engagement. Mr. Karthik further said the selected students will go to the fields to know about the working mechanism of the pipe water supply system. <br />''<br />''They would also be given field test kits to monitor the water quality, he added. The Mission Director mentioned that the Jal Doots would also interact with various people of the community on issues like climate change, and water conservation efforts and record all the things in the Jal Doot diary. He hoped that through this initiative, a number of climate-aware children will be able to work for the betterment of the community. <br />
