The Assam government has urged the Centre to conduct a CBI inquiry into the killing of nine persons at Dimapur. Sources in the state Home department said that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has written a letter to the Union Home Minister in this regard. The Assam government condemned the incident and Mr. Gogoi spoke to his Nagaland counterpart yesterday.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Bokajan sub-division in Karbi Anglong district after the incident. Sub Divisional Police Officer said that no untoward incident has been reported during the last 48 hours and situation is under control. Night curfew has been imposed in Bokajan sub-division as precautionary measure.
He said that vehicles from Nagaland are plying on National Highway number 39 and six security parties have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident. Senior police officials are camping in the district to monitor the situation.
