The Assam government has suspended the Principal Secretary of Mising Autonomous Council, Gorgoram Pegu with immediate effect. He had been arrested with over 16 lakh rupees by police at Mangaldai on Tuesday. Pegu is in police custody.<br/><br/><br/>The State Assembly was rocked on Tuesday on the arrest of Pegu as there had been media reports that the amount was supposed to be paid to a Cabinet Minister.<br/><br/>Opposition members of the State Assembly have expressed serious concern over the arrest and sought clarification from the Government in this regard.<br/>
