Assam: Govt sends second team of Forest Protection Force to Kaziranga Park

Assam government today sent the second team of Assam Forest Protection Force to Kaziranga National Park. AIR Correspondent quoting forest official sources said that the 50 member team of the elite force will help the forest guard to prevent poaching and smuggling of animals. A 50 member team of Assam Forest Protection Force has already undertaking assignment at the Kaziranga National park which is in the coveted list of World Heritage list. The State government has also mulling option to set up a Wildlife Defence Force to protect wildlife and parks in the lines of Village Defence Party who take care of village securities.11 rhinos were killed this year by poachers at Kaziranga. Security forces have already intensified operation to nab poachers.
