Assam govt. ready for talks with ULFA without sovereignty issue

The Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said the government is ready to hold talks with the ULFA without the sovereignty issue. Mr Gogoi however said there will be no immediate suspension of operations against the banned group.<br/><br/>Talking to reporters after a meeting with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi, the chief minister said there is no plan to suspend operations against the group now.<br/><br/>Mr Gogoi said the government will try to bring everyone to the negotiating table. He said the indication from the ULFA is positive and the government is hopeful of initiating the dialogue process soon.<br/><br/> The Chief Minister did not specify any timeframe for the talks.<br/>
