The body of legendary singer composer Dr Bhupen Hazarika will be flown to Guwahati tomorrow morning. Assam Sports and Cultural Minister Pranati Phukan, who arrived in Mumbai today, will be accompanying Dr Hazarika's family members to Guwahati where Dr Hazarika's last rites would be performed. Dr Hazarika's body is presently kept in Mumbai's Kokilaben hospital where he died yesterday due to multiple organ failure. Hospital's spokesman Jayanto Saha told AIR that Dr Hazarika's body will be kept for public viewing for an hour this evening when his fans, colleagues from the film fraternity and other close associates in Mumbai can have a last glimpse of the multi talented stalwart and pay their last respect to him. In Guwahati, his body will be kept at Judges Field to enable the people to pay their last respect to him till Tuesday morning. The cremation will take place on the same day with full State Honour. Assam Government has declared a three-day state mourning from today and a half day holiday on Tuesday as a mark of respect to Dr. Hazarika. The UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi telephoned the State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi last night and expressed her grief and deep sorrow at the demise of the legendary singer. She termed Dr. Hazarika as a multifaceted genius and a great mass singer.
