The Assam Government today launched a special employment generation programme, particularly in rural areas .The programme was inaugurated by the State Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi at a function in Guwahati. Inaugurating the five crore 66 lakh rupee Jibon Jyoti Swaniyojan Programme for the year 2010-11, Mr. Gogoi said the government has accorded top priority to provide self-employment opportunities to the weavers, farmers and unemployed youths through a host of schemes to upgrade their income and living standard. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is contemplating to provide more subsidy to the Self-Help Groups as they have been able to usher in silent revolution in the rural areas through their diversified economic activities.
