Assam government has issued 19,000 new job cards under MGNREGA. Talking to AIR News, Principal Secretary in the Panchayat and Rural Development department JB Ekka said, 50 lakh man-days of employment are being provided during the lock down period. <br />'' <br />'' Rs. 100 crore have been paid to the workers under MGNREGA. <br />'' <br />'' Mr. Ekka further said that 97 percent of payment has been made by panchayats within 15-day period. <br />'' <br />'' He said that skill mapping of the labourers who have returned to Assam from various states is being done which would help various departments in the coming days. <br />'' <br />''Appreciating the vital role being played by Women self-help groups under Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, Mr. Ekka said that 60 lakh face masks have been prepared by them so far.<br />
