Assam govt holds talks with reps of organisations asking for separate states

In Assam,the high level talks between state government and representatives of All Koch-Rajbonshi Students Union,(AKRSU) have concluded in Guwahati.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and top government officials took part in the talk. AKRSU is demanding Kamatapur state merging parts of Assam and West Bengal.

Official sources said that several issues including formation of separate state have been discussed in the meeting.Chief Minister urged them not to take undemocratic means of agitation and stressed on return of normalcy in the state.

Gogoi also assured that Assam government will facilitate the organization to hold talks with the Prime Minister and Union Home minister.

The Chief Minister also assured to fulfill several demands of the organization including the set up of an engineering college in Bongaigaon .The leader of the organization termed the talks as positive.

On the other hand, Assam government has also invited All Bodo Students Union and Bodo National Conference for talks this evening, who are demanding separate Bodoland state.

All Bodo Students Union is holding meeting to decide future course of action. Meanwhile, situation has improved in Karbi Anglong district. Day curfew was lifted at Diphu .

At Dongkamokam curfew has been relaxed for 6 hours from 10 am. Train services resume in all routes of the state. On the other hand,48 hours bandh called by the All Bodo Students Union to press their demand for a separate Bodoland state passed off peacefully this morning. Normal life was badly affected in parts of Lower Assam due to bandh.
