Assam govt favors CBI probe into killing of 9 persons in Dimapur

The Assam government favors CBI inquiry into the killing of nine persons at Dimapur.

A press release issued in Guwahati quoted Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, saying that the Centre would be requested in this regard.

It said Gogoi also talked to his Nagaland counterpart on the issue on Sunday.

Highly decomposed bodies of nine unidentified persons, who were blindfolded with hands tied up, were found buried in a gorge near Chumukedima in Dimapur district of Nagaland on Friday night.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Karbi Anglong district after the incident.

IGP Law and Order is camping at Diphu to take stock of the situation.

He said that a strict vigil is being maintained.

Night curfew is on at some areas in Bokajan sub-division of the district.
