Assam Govt. decides to set up Women’s University

Assam Government has decided to set up a Women’s University within the current financial year to facilitate higher education of the girl students in the state. It would be set up in the pattern of the S.N.D.T Women’s University in Mumbai. This was disclosed by the state Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in Guwahati. He said, six new Engineering Colleges will be set up at Golaghat, Goalpara, Dhemaji, Karimganj, Nagaon and Kokrajhar very soon. The process for setting up these institutes has already been started. The state Government has also planned to establish 12 Model Degree Colleges in the educationally backward districts of the state.
