Assam Government has decided to launch a new Community Health Insurance Scheme for its around five lakh employees with effect from 1st April next year. The State Government will also study the possibility of covering its employees under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). The step has been taken in accordance with the recommendation of the Sixth Pay Commission for the State employees. At present, the State employees are getting a health allowance along with their monthly salaries. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting between the State Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi and a delegation of the All Assam Employees’ Union at Guwahati on Thursday evening.
