Assam government has announced a reward of ten lakh rupees to the teenaged boxing sensation Shiva Thapa. He was given warm reception at Borjhar Airport when he arrived after winning Gold medal and a berth for London Olympics in 56 kilogram category Qualifying match held at Asthana in Kazakhstan. Various sport organizations also felicitated the 18 year old boxer at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati. He will be the fourth sportsperson from Assam to participate in Olympics.
