Assam government has achieved success in the development of border areas. Official sources said that various constructions and other developmental works are being carried out in the border areas under Border Area Development Programme, BADP. Assam has 28 development blocks in 7 districts located along the international border. An amount of 256 crore rupees have been sanctioned for the year 2011-12 to carry out various schemes. Construction of roads, auditoriums and community halls, schools, eco-friendly park and water supply facilitates are being done under the BADP. These works are likely to uplift the living standard of the villagers. BADP is Centrally funded programme to meet the special developmental needs of the border population which are located within 20 kilometres from the international border.
