Assam Governor convenes Winter Session of State Legislative Assembly

The Assam Governor Syed Sibte Razi has summoned the Winter Session of the State Legislative Assembly from the 7th of next month. The Session will continue till the 11th of next month and it will have altogether five working days. AIR Correspondent reports that the session will have discussions on initiating peace talks with the militant outfits sheltering in designated camps, including the banned ULFA, UPDS-Black Widow faction and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), apart from other normal businesses of the House. The issues of proposed dam construction over the river Brahmaputra by the Chinese authorities in their territory and its possible environmental impact in Assam, besides pay revision of around five lakh State government employees as per recommendation of the Sixth Pay Commission, may also figure during the discussions in the Assembly Session.
