Assam government is mulling options on taking action against the leaders of organisations who called a 12 hour bandh on Tuesday. One person was killed and several injured in violence during the bandh. Official sources in Guwahati said that police arrested 36 miscreants on Tuesday for indulging in violence during bandh called by All Assam Minority Students’ Union and supported by others. Another 110 persons were picked up for questioning. Four cops sustained injuries on Tuesday night at Kamrup district when miscreants attacked them. Search operation is on to nab the culprits.Meanwhile, curfew has been relaxed in entire Chirang district and Tezupr in Sonitpur district for 9 hours. But indefinite curfew continues at Aam Bagan area in Nagaon district and Barpeta road and Howly in Barpeta district. Security has been beefed up in parts of Lower Assam. Army staged a flag march at Bodoland Territorial Area Districts and neighbouring Dhubri and Barpeta road.Counter insurgency operation is being launched by army and other security forces to nab members of insurgent groups involved in perpetrating ethnic violence. A group of ministers and an all party delegation were camping in and touring violence hit areas, appealing people to maintain peace and harmony.Meanwhile, CID has registered a case in connection with posting of inflammatory comments in the Facebook account named after a political leader. Investigation is on to trace the culprits in this connection.
