Assam: GoM on granting ST status to 6 communities hold first meeting

In Assam, the Group of Ministers (GoM) on granting Scheduled Tribe status to six communities of the state held its first meeting in Guwahati yesterday. Talking to reporters after the meeting, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is heading the GoM, said the committee will hold a series of meetings with various stakeholders and tribal groups in the coming days to get their feedback.
