In Assam, forest department will conduct rhino census in the three inhabitants -Kaziranga and Orang National Park and Pobitora wildlife Sanctuary in next month. Talking to AIR, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest of Wildlife Mr. Suresh Chand said that preparations are on to carry out the census successfully to find out the exact number of rhino.Assam is the home of the highest number of one -horn rhinoceros in the world. As per 2009 survey, a total of 2 thousand 301 rhinos were found in Assam. The census will be categorised in male, female, calf and adult section .The exact number of rhino will be traced through camera mapping.?The forest department has set the target of increasing the total number of rhino to 3000 under Indian Rhino Vision by 2020. Under this project, 10 rhinos will be translocated to Manas National Park from Kaziranga in next 10 days starting from tomorrow. In the next stage, rhinos are likely to be shifted to Laokhowa, Burachapari and Dibru-Saikhowa sanctuary. Apart from rhino, forest department is also planning to translocate 30 swamp deer from Kaziranga to Manas on the recommendation of UNESCO.
