In Assam, an alert has been issued by State government on Tuesday after flood water submerged new places in Barpeta district along with Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sonitpur, Golaghat and Jorhat. Officials said in Guwhati on Tuesday evening that flood water has submerged 325 villages in these districts.There is no respite from incessant rains which caused flood in five districts. Official sources said that so far over two lakh 15 thousand people and nine thousand hector crops affected by flood. 36 number of relief camps have been opened by districts administration so far. In Lakhimpur, being the worst -hit district, 160 villages and around 1 lakh 20 thousand people were submerged by river Brahmaputra and its tributaries. The state government instructed the NDRF and district administrations to provide rescue, medical and other relief materials to the affected people. Also, the road communication between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh through Dhemaji has been disrupted.
