Sixty nine revenue circles of 16 districts are reeling under flood water in Assam. 18 people have died and seven remained missing so far in flood related incidents in the state. State Principal Secretary of Revenue Department said that compensation will be given to the kin of each of those killed as per norms.

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh yesterday spoke to Assam Minister for Disaster Management, Prithibi Majhi, about immediate relief for the flood-affected areas in the state. He expressed concern over the flood situation in Assam and assured the state government of all help in the rescue and relief operations.
