Assam flood situation worsens, death toll mounts to 116

In Assam, around 315 villages in Dhemaji district are still reeling under water. The movement of vehicles was also disrupted as flood water washed away a portion of National Highway number 52 at Bhebeli in Dhemaji district. Flood affected people took shelter at relief acmps and high embankments. The toll in recent flood and landslides mounted to 116. Official report said that rescue and relief operations are in full swing. Around 3 lakh people of 12 districts have taken shelter at 536 relief camps. The National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, Army, CRPF so far evacuated 3 lakh 70 thousand people. Around 120 medical teams are being deployed at affected areas.
