In Assam, the overall flood situation continues to be grim. Around 2 lakh, fifty thousand people are still reeling under the flood impact. River bank erosion in Morigaon and Dhubri district also makes the situation worse. The Brahmaputra eroded around 500 hectare of crop land in Morigaon. Barpeta District administration has set up a 24 hour control room to face any eventuality. 35 medical teams along with necessary medicines are being deployed across the district. Two boat clinics have also been put in place at the river line areas. State NRHM team visited the flood affected areas to draw a work plan to prevent any water born diseases. Health department engaged medical officers and ASHA workers to organize sensitization meetings. In Nalbari district, 9 relief camps have been set up and food items are being distributed regularly. PHE and Health department have undertaken the DDT spray along with distribution of Halogen tablets for purification of drinking water.
