In Assam, the overall flood situation in Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts improved slightly today. Our Correspondent reports, the water level of the rivers started to recede with improved weather condition. The road communication on the National Highway number 52 which was snapped yesterday, is restored since last night after repairing the damaged approach post of the Ranganadi bridge. Nearly one lakh people in around 100 villages were affected in the down hills of Lakhimpur district following sudden rise of water level in the Ranganadi River that flows from neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh. In Dhemaji district around three hundred flood-affected people are taking shelter in three camps at Jonai town. 30 villages were hit by floods in the Siang River. Parts of the Tezpur Central University and some villages in Gohpur Circle are also affected due to floods in Jia Dhol River in Sonitpur district.
